Kerala to deploy 335 new 108 ambulances by month-end

A new fleet of 335 ambulances is scheduled to be deployed across Kerala by the end of this month to replace aging vehicles. Health Minister K Muraleedharan stated that the vehicles are currently being fitted with essential life-saving equipment in Thiruvananthapuram and that registration procedures have been completed.

The rollout follows delays attributed to the agency operating the service. Additionally, the minister addressed ongoing disputes between drivers' associations and the operating agency regarding salary bonuses. Muraleedharan emphasized that the government will take strict action against any protests or actions that block ambulances carrying patients, ensuring the service remains operational under the supervision of the Kerala Medical Services Corporation Limited (KMSCL).
