Kericho hearse crash kills two, injures 26; Murang’a funeral mob sets houses ablaze
Two mourners were killed and 26 injured when a Mercedes‑Benz hearse overturned on the Muhoroni‑Londiani Road in Kericho County early Thursday. The vehicle, carrying the body of the late Jayden Kamau, rolled after the driver lost control, and the victims were taken to nearby hospitals. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
In Murang’a County, a burial ceremony turned violent when a mob stormed the funeral of James Mathu Wangui, seized the coffin, dumped the body at a police post and set fire to two houses in nearby villages. The attackers also killed a cow and fled the scene. Police have launched investigations into the disturbance, arson and mob action.
