Kerkasiel Kampen delivers 120,000 cards to Dutch parliament urging permits for 420 asylum children

The Dutch faith‑based group Kerkasiel Kampen gathered more than 120,000 support cards and brought them to the Tweede Kamer (House of Representatives) to press the Committee on Asylum and Migration for residence permits for around 420 children who have grown up in the Netherlands but remain undocumented.

A public demonstration was held at the Malieveld in The Hague, where participants in white clothing and clergy from several churches addressed the crowd. The original plan to deliver the cards by horse‑drawn post carriages was scrapped because of heat, and vans were used instead. The cards were received by members of various parliamentary parties, reinforcing the group’s call for a humane asylum policy and for granting the children their legal rights.

Kerkasiel Kampen, which has been sheltering an Uzbek family threatened with deportation since November 2024, says the campaign is intended to make the plight of the children visible to policymakers and the public.
