Kern Pharma cycling team faces uncertain future at Vuelta a España

The Kern Pharma cycling team enters the Vuelta a España with high competitive ambitions but significant financial uncertainty. General manager Juanjo Oroz stated that the team is in its best prepared state to date, following a successful 2024 season where the squad secured three stage victories.

Despite their sporting progress, the project faces a critical future due to the loss of its primary sponsor and the lack of a confirmed replacement for 2027. Oroz noted that the team has been transparent with riders, some of whom were given freedom in June to seek future contracts. The team hopes the international exposure of the Vuelta a España will help secure new sponsorship. If a new supporter is not found following the race, the team may be forced to drop in category or face total dissolution, potentially impacting the 34-year-old structure including its amateur wing, Finisher.
