Kernel increases wheat and sunflower production in Ukraine

Ukrainian agro-industrial group Kernel reported significant productivity increases for several key crops in 2026. Wheat production rose by 22.3% to 678,400 tonnes, driven by a 13% expansion in cultivated area and a 9% increase in net yield to 6.4 tonnes per hectare.

Sunflower production saw a substantial boost, with cultivated areas increasing by 90% to 88,000 hectares. This resulted in an estimated harvest of 272,800 tonnes, which is 2.2 times higher than the previous year. Rapeseed production also experienced massive growth, reaching 150,500 tonnes following a significant expansion of cultivated land.

In contrast, the company expects a weaker corn harvest. Due to unfavorable weather conditions, including abnormal summer heat and drought in certain production regions, the estimated net yield for corn is 8.1 tonnes per hectare, representing a 13% decrease compared to the previous year.
