Kerr Kriisa pleads guilty to federal wire fraud

Former college basketball player Kerr Kriisa has pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors in West Virginia. The 25-year-old Estonian guard was involved in a scheme that allegedly defrauded two individuals of millions of dollars dating back to at least 2022.

As part of the plea, Kriisa admitted to a specific incident in February 2026 where he posed as a fictitious person named ‘Irene’ to demand $9,000 from a victim to avoid litigation and publicity regarding a financial dispute. U.S. Attorney Matthew L. Harvey stated that the scheme caused real harm and emphasized that individuals who exploit others will be held accountable regardless of their notoriety.

Kriisa, who played for the University of Arizona, University of Kentucky, and University of Cincinnati, faces up to two years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for December 22, 2026.
