Kerstin Ott recounts near-fatal dehydration during Portugal pilgrimage
German singer Kerstin Ott recently shared details regarding a dangerous experience during a solo 155-kilometer pilgrimage through Portugal approximately three years ago. During an appearance on the WDR program ‘Böttinger. Wohnung 17’, Ott described how a packing error nearly led to a life-threatening situation.
While facing temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius, Ott realized she had failed to pack sufficient drinking water, having instead included a bottle of vodka in her luggage. She noted that she avoided consuming the alcohol due to the extreme heat and lack of hydration, stating, ‘I almost died of thirst.’
The ordeal served as a significant turning point for the singer. Following the trip, Ott implemented major lifestyle changes, including adopting a vegan diet, quitting smoking, and abstaining from alcohol.
