Kesennuma Peach Shark products launched by Radish Boya

Radish Boya, operated by Oisix, has launched a new line of processed food products featuring ‘Peach Shark’ (Prionace glauca), a branded shark species from Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture.

While shark meat has historically been underutilized due to a focus on fin processing, new high-tech processing methods and collaborations with local fishermen have enabled the production of high-quality fillets. The Peach Shark is noted for its pale pink color, lack of odor, and high protein, low fat, and low calorie content. Because the skeleton consists entirely of cartilage, the meat is considered safe and easy to eat for children and the elderly.

Initial products released on September 14 include Peach Shark shumai, a shredded pasta sauce (peperoncino), and a sweet and sour sauce dish. Additional products, such as fritters and fish balls, are scheduled for release starting in November.
