KESH conducts additional energy purchases amid farmer VAT updates
The Albanian electricity corporation, KESH, has returned to the market to purchase additional electricity, totaling approximately 3.38 million euros for 25,605 MWh to cover the period of August 22–30, 2026. This new purchase, at an average price of roughly 132 euro/MWh, follows a previous contract in early July for 331,200 MWh valued at approximately 41.6 million euros. Combined, these two procurement actions bring the total summer energy bill to nearly 45 million euros.
Separately, the Albanian Tax Administration has provided guidance for farmers applying for a 10% VAT compensation for supplies made between January and June 2026. The application period runs from July 1 until December 31, 2026. Authorities clarified procedures for technical issues, such as missing invoices in the e-Filing system, advising affected farmers to contact their Regional Tax Directorate for verification.
