Kesrouan forestry official arrested for bribery

The Lebanese State Security Directorate has arrested the forestry official for the Kesrouan district following allegations of corruption. Acting on information regarding collusion with wood traders, authorities detained the official, identified as (Sh. S.), on September 1, 2026.

Investigations conducted under the direction of Financial Public Prosecutor Maher al-Zain revealed that the official accepted bribes from several individuals—identified as (A. J.), (M. J.), and (R. J.)—to facilitate wood transport and purchase licenses. The official confessed to receiving a percentage-based fee for every ton of wood sold to these individuals.

The official was charged with exploiting his position for private gain. While the official was later released on financial bail, search warrants have been issued for the other individuals involved as legal proceedings continue.
