During a bullpen session on Tuesday, a 113 mph home run hit by Marte struck a grounds crew member in the head. Marte immediately stopped his practice to check on the individual, who was able to sit down and eventually shake hands with the player. No official injury has been reported.

Marte also addressed controversy regarding a hat he wore during his return, which featured the phrase “may the bridges I burn light the way.” Marte stated he was unaware of the specific meaning of the message, noting that Spanish is his first language.
