Ketel Marte trade rumors emerge amid Diamondbacks tension

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte has become a subject of trade speculation due to reported tensions between the player and the organization. Marte currently holds 10-and-5 status, granting him full no-trade protection and the power to veto any potential deals.

The friction reportedly stems from Marte’s history of missing games without prior notification to the team. Manager Torey Lovullo noted that such absences have occurred in each of the last four seasons. Tensions escalated following an incident in August 2025 when Marte was placed on the restricted list after failing to appear for a game in Boston. While Marte cited a moment of frustration, the situation caused reported dissatisfaction among teammates.

While teams like the Los Angeles Angels have been linked to Marte to address positional needs, analysts suggest a blockbuster trade may be unlikely given his age profile and the Diamondbacks' control over his movement.
