Ketu South residents protest ECG overbilling

Residents of the Ketu South Municipality in Ghana marched to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Denu District Office to protest persistent overbilling and inaccurate electricity statements. Led by Edem Viglo and Napoleon Gbeti, demonstrators carried placards demanding accurate meter readings, transparency in charge calculations, and the removal of the district manager.

The protesters submitted a formal petition to Madam Jatoe-Kaleo Christina, a customer service representative for the regional office. The petition requests that disputed bills be reviewed before payment is required and calls for improved communication and respect from ECG staff toward consumers.

According to the demonstrators, these billing disputes have persisted for five years. While a subsequent protest was planned for September 2025, it was suspended following interventions by traditional leaders to encourage peaceful resolution.
