Keur Massar land fraud investigation involves 102 million FCFA

An individual has been arrested by Senegal’s Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) following allegations of land fraud involving more than 102 million FCFA. The case involves five complainants who reported fraudulent transactions concerning various plots of land located in Darou Thioub, within the Keur Massar area.

According to investigators, the first complainant paid 50 million FCFA in March for five plots, expecting administrative documents such as notifications and site authorizations. However, the buyer discovered that some of the plots were already occupied by other claimants. Four additional victims reported losses of 22.5 million, 11.65 million, 10 million, and 8.1 million FCFA, bringing the total amount involved to 102.25 million FCFA.

The suspect has partially admitted to receiving the total sum of 102.25 million FCFA but denies the charge of fraud. He claims that he provided the necessary administrative documents to the buyers and suggests that the disputes arose because a local municipal authority allegedly assigned the same plots to other individuals without his knowledge, resulting in duplicate allocations.
