Keuri Samuel Upia arrested for killing ex-partner Neliza Figueroa in Santo Domingo

Keuri Samuel Upia posted an Instagram message saying “La meta es ser feliz” shortly before he was accused of murdering his former partner, nurse Neliza Figueroa, in the La Zurza neighborhood of Santo Domingo. Figueroa, the mother of Upia’s two children (ages 7 and 4), had a protection order against him. Police arrived at the apartment after a delayed emergency call; neighbors say a faster response might have prevented the killing. Video from the scene shows Upia sitting calmly, sweating and with a blood‑stained scratch, while the victim lay dead in a blood‑splattered room. According to witnesses, Upia lured Figueroa with a pizza excuse and killed her in front of the children. He was taken away in a police van, and a crowd outside the scene threw bottles and stones at the officers.
