Keusote disruptions force child clinic layoffs and temporary service sites in Central Uusimaa

The Central Uusimaa welfare region (Keusote) announced extensive staff layoffs at its child health clinics that will run for up to ten days and be implemented in phases from early September to late November. The reductions affect opening hours and appointment availability, with priority given to pregnant women, infants under one year and families with special care needs. Other age groups will receive limited slots, and some routine visits, such as post‑natal home visits, are now offered only as exceptional home calls.

Separately, a fire on 25 June 2026 at the Nurmijärvi sote unit caused smoke and water damage that rendered the building unusable. Keusote quickly arranged temporary premises in Kirkonkylä, Rajamäen unit and other locations to maintain reception, child‑clinic, mental‑health, rehabilitation and family‑clinic services. Appointment times remain unchanged and contact details are the same. Service manager Susanna Pitkänen confirmed that the region continues to seek longer‑term solutions, including a mobile sampling point in Klaukkala. Both developments stem from Keusote’s strained finances – a recent surplus but a cumulative deficit of about €125 million that the regional council aims to balance by the end of 2029.
