KEVICC in Totnes opens grass pitch for community use

King Edward VI Community College (KEVICC) in Totnes has opened its grass sports pitch for use by local community organisations. This follows existing arrangements where local sports groups utilize the school’s all-weather pitch.

Community groups can book sessions via the school’s website. Authorized users will receive a security code for nearby parking via a confirmation email. The initiative aims to provide dedicated access to the facility while allowing the school to manage site usage effectively.

The opening of the grass pitch coincides with plans by Education South West (ESW) to sell a portion of the school’s land, following approval from the Department for Education. ESW has confirmed that all existing sports facilities, including the grass and all-weather pitches, will be retained and remain available for community use after the sale.

Proceeds from the land sale are intended to be reinvested into KEVICC to fund the refurbishment and modernisation of the school’s estate, including both internal and external improvements to buildings and facilities.
