Kevin Ciubotaru signs for Dundee United

Romanian 22‑year‑old left‑back Kevin Ciubotaru has joined Scottish Premiership side Dundee United on a two‑year contract with an option for a third year. The player, who earned his first senior cap for Romania in a 2‑1 win over Moldova, left Hermannstadt after the club withdrew from Romania’s Liga 2 and completed 39 top‑flight appearances.

Ciubotaru, a product of the Rangers academy and former youth player at Rapid Vienna and Parma, said he was eager to return to Scotland, having lived there before. Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin praised the signing, noting the defender’s recent breakthrough season and the quality he adds to the squad’s defensive options. The transfer follows earlier speculation linking Ciubotaru with Romanian club FCSB and interest from other European sides.
