Kevin De Bruyne suffers ankle injury during Napoli loss to Juventus

Napoli midfielder Kevin De Bruyne sustained an ankle injury during a 2-0 defeat against Juventus. Assistant coach Marco Landucci confirmed the player suffered a sprain, which forced him to be substituted at halftime for Billy Gilmour.

The injury comes at a critical time for Napoli, who face a Champions League away match against FC Porto this Wednesday. The club is also dealing with the loss of captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who was also forced off during the match. Additionally, midfielder Stanislav Lobotka is expected to miss five to seven weeks due to a tibiofibular syndesmosis injury and ligament damage.

De Bruyne’s absence may lead to tactical shifts for manager Massimiliano Allegri, potentially increasing the roles of André-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Scott McTominay. The injury also casts doubt on De Bruyne’s availability for Belgium’s upcoming Nations League fixtures against Turkey and Italy in November.
