Kevin Durant eyes fifth Olympic gold medal in Los Angeles

Basketball star Kevin Durant has expressed his desire to compete in his fifth Olympic Games at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Having won four consecutive gold medals with Team USA, Durant noted that the experience of playing internationally has provided him with unique perspectives on both the game and life.

Durant, who currently plays for the Houston Rockets, averaged 26.0 points per game during the 2025–26 season. If he participates in the Los Angeles Games, he will be nearly 40 years old and has the opportunity to extend his record as the all-time leading Olympic scorer for Team USA.

Former Golden State Warriors and 2024 Team USA coach Steve Kerr has praised Durant’s ability to adapt to the international game, describing him as one of the most lethal scorers in history and a premier player in FIBA competition.
