Kevin Durant targets fifth Olympic gold medal in 2028

NBA star Kevin Durant has expressed his intention to compete for Team USA at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Despite being nearly 40 years old at the time of the Games, the four-time Olympic gold medalist aims to secure a record-breaking fifth gold medal.

Durant, who is the all-time leading scorer for the United States national team, noted that the opportunity to represent his country and travel the world is a primary motivator. He emphasized that the experience of playing on the international stage has profoundly changed his perspective on both basketball and life.

In addition to his Olympic ambitions, Durant has recently transitioned to the Houston Rockets following a trade from the Phoenix Suns. During his 2025–26 season with the Rockets, he maintained high-level performance, averaging 26.0 points per game and earning his 16th career All-Star selection.
