Kevin Martínez of Peru won the gold medal in Peruvian fronton at the South American Games in Santa Fe, Argentina. Martínez, the world number one in the discipline, defeated Argentina's Guillermo Osorio in the final with scores of 15-9 and 15-11.
Osorio, an Argentine athlete from Formosa, secured the silver medal following victories over competitors from Venezuela, Chile, and Bolivia. His performance also earned him qualification for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.
This competition marked a historic milestone for the sport, as it was the first time Peruvian fronton was officially contested outside of Peru. The event serves as part of the competitive cycle leading toward the 2027 Pan American Games.
