Kevin Moreno Wins 3000m Gold at Copa Soprole in Iquique

Kevin Moreno Sánchez, a student at Liceo Francisco de Aguirre in Calama, secured first place in the 3,000‑metre flat race at the Copa Soprole athletics competition held in Iquique, Chile. Competing against athletes from across Chile and a delegation from Peru, Moreno finished with a margin of more than 150 metres over his rivals.

His victory followed a disciplined training regime of five sessions per week at a local sports club, often racing against older age groups to improve performance. The school’s physical‑education teacher, Francisca Segura, and the institute’s director, Cristián González, coordinated his registration and provided logistical support for the event. The Copa Soprole is regarded as one of the country’s premier school‑level track meets, drawing participants from regions such as Santiago, Copiapó, Antofagasta and the northern zones of Chile.
