Kevin O'Leary faces criticism from Shark Tank co-host and SNL satire

Investor Kevin O'Leary has faced both criticism from colleagues and satire from late-night television. On a recent appearance on SiriusXM's Business Briefing, Shark Tank co-host Robert Herjavec accused O'Leary of being too harsh toward entrepreneurs on the ABC reality series, stating, “sometimes Kevin goes too far.” Herjavec noted that the arguments seen on screen are real and not staged. O'Leary defended his approach, arguing that the high-pressure environment of the show reflects the difficulties of the real world, stating, “The tank is tough... the real world out there is a b----.”

Separately, the Saturday Night Live cast mocked O'Leary during a Weekend Update segment. Actor James Austin Johnson impersonated O'Leary to satirize his proposed Stratos data center project in Box Elder County, Utah. The sketch depicted a fictionalized O'Leary prioritizing profit over environmental concerns such as water usage and noise pollution, with the character dismissively referring to local residents as “Sims.”
