Kevin Owens vows to maintain aggressive wrestling style despite neck injury
WWE wrestler Kevin Owens has revealed details regarding a serious neck injury and his refusal to alter his high-risk performance style. During an appearance on the Toronto Sun’s ‘No Holds Barred’, Owens stated that he would rather retire than return to the ring as a cautious version of himself.
Owens described a period of medical uncertainty where symptoms did not initially point to a spinal or neck injury. He noted that during an Elimination Chamber match against Sami Zayn, he realized his legs were no longer functioning properly. Despite a period of feeling better that allowed him to compete in a ladder match against Cody Rhodes at the Royal Rumble, the underlying issues eventually became clear.
Having spent 26 years developing his aggressive approach, Owens expressed that attempting to slow down could actually increase his risk of injury by causing him to overthink his movements. He indicated that if he ever becomes noticeably hesitant or slower in the ring, he will choose to stop competing entirely rather than provide a diluted version of his performance.
