Kevin Pietersen clarifies consultant role with England cricket team

Former England batter Kevin Pietersen has clarified that he serves as a consultant for the England cricket team rather than a full-time employee. The clarification follows questions regarding his level of involvement after England failed to reach the final of a 50-over tri-series in Pakistan.

Pietersen stated on his X account that he will not be traveling with the white-ball side for every game over the next 12 months. However, he confirmed he will join the team for a few weeks during their tour of Australia, which includes three ODIs and five T20Is starting November 12 in Perth.

His contract as a specialist mentor for the white-ball side covers approximately 150 days through the end of the 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup. His upcoming schedule includes the tour of South Africa and matches against Pakistan and New Zealand as part of the preparations for the 2027 tournament.
