Kevin Raymond Doyle sentenced to nearly 20 years for child abuse offences
Kevin Raymond Doyle, 62, has been sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to 98 child abuse-related offences. Doyle was found to have paid for live online child sexual abuse shows via video conferencing applications involving 25 children in the Philippines, some of whom had severe disabilities.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) launched an investigation after intercepting Doyle at Brisbane Airport in October 2019. A search of his phone revealed child sexual abuse material and evidence of his involvement in livestreamed abuse. According to the AFP, Doyle spent $5,000 over three years to view 28 live shows and had communicated directly with victims, detailing intended sexual offences.
Doyle also traveled to the Philippines twice with the intent to sexually abuse children he had observed in the livestreams, though he was unable to meet them. The AFP investigation has resulted in the rescue of seven victims, aged five to 20, and the prosecution of three livestream facilitators by Filipino police. Inquiries to locate remaining victims and facilitators are ongoing.
