Kevin Rodriguez withdraws from Ecuador squad with injury
Union Saint-Gilloise forward Kevin Rodriguez has withdrawn from the Ecuador national team due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old attacker was originally called up for Ecuador's international break, which includes friendly matches against South Korea and Japan, but he will remain in Brussels to undergo rehabilitation.
Medical examinations conducted by Union Saint-Gilloise identified a BAMIC 2B muscle lesion in his hamstring. This injury follows a difficult start to the season for Rodriguez, who has dealt with various physical setbacks, including a muscle contraction in August.
The timing is particularly challenging as the player was unable to impress new Ecuador coach Marcelo Gallardo during this window. Rodriguez's return date to club action has not yet been specified, though his next scheduled competitive match with Union is against Oud-Heverlee Leuven on October 11.
