Kevin Rowland condemns Nigel Farage for using Dexys Midnight Runners hit

Dexys Midnight Runners frontman Kevin Rowland expressed his disapproval after Nigel Farage used the band’s 1982 hit “Come On Eileen” as entrance music for his keynote speech at the Reform UK annual conference.

The conference took place from September 3 to September 5 at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. Following the use of the track, Rowland released a statement on social media describing himself as “disgusted” by the choice. He cited his background as the son of Irish immigrants and stated that he and the rest of the band are “passionately against Farage’s politics.”

“Come On Eileen” was a major international success, reaching number one on both the UK Official Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100. Farage has not yet responded to the singer's comments.
