Green Bay Packers sign Kevin Zeitler amid offensive line and injury shifts
The Green Bay Packers are undergoing significant roster changes to address offensive struggles. The team has signed veteran guard Kevin Zeitler to a one-year contract with a base value of approximately $4.05 million. Zeitler joins other recent veteran additions Laken Tomlinson and Mekhi Becton to bolster an offensive line that has struggled with protection, notably allowing a high pressure percentage against quarterback Jordan Love.
In addition to the offensive line reinforcements, the Packers announced that wide receiver Jayden Reed will miss the remainder of the season. Reed requires surgery following a neck injury sustained during a game against the New York Jets. The loss of Reed, along with season-ending injuries to right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele, leaves the offense facing further depth challenges.
Head coach Matt LaFleur noted that the influx of veterans, who possess a combined 434 career starts, is intended to provide composure and stability to a young unit. The team currently manages several injuries, including those to guards Aaron Banks and Jacob Monk, which may necessitate immediate starts for the new veteran acquisitions.
