Keychron releases K1 Ultra 8K wireless keyboard with open‑source ZMK firmware

Keychron has launched the K1 Ultra 8K, a low‑profile wireless mechanical keyboard built around the open‑source ZMK firmware. The device replaces the earlier QMK firmware, offering lower latency, reduced power consumption and extended battery life.

The keyboard supports both wired USB‑C and 2.4 GHz wireless connections with an 8,000 Hz polling rate, as well as Bluetooth 5.2 for pairing up to three devices. Keychron claims up to 760 hours of operation on a single charge. Its CNC‑machined aluminium chassis is gasket‑mounted, features hot‑swappable mechanical switches, south‑facing RGB lighting and a modular design that lets users create custom layouts, macros and lighting schemes through the browser‑based Keychron Launcher app.
