Kfarremman massacre victims' families demand state accountability

Families of the victims of a massacre in Kfarremman have issued a statement criticizing the Lebanese state for its lack of official response one week after the incident. The massacre resulted in the deaths of 12 members of a single family, including children, and left several survivors injured.

The families expressed frustration over the absence of clear, dedicated measures from the government to address the tragedy. While President Joseph Aoun visited the area, the families noted that the visit did not result in a specific stance or documented legal and international steps to follow up on the case.

In their statement, the victims' families called for action from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the documentation of the event with the United Nations, and the demand for an independent and transparent investigation. They also questioned the role of local representatives from the Nabatieh region, emphasizing that the incident affects not just one family but the broader community and the principle of civilian protection.
