KFC faces criticism for lifetime free chicken tattoo promotion in Italy
KFC is facing criticism in Italy following a promotional campaign at the ‘Modena Nerd’ fair, where participants can receive lifetime free chicken in exchange for getting a KFC-themed tattoo. Participants receive a voucher that can be redeemed every ten days at KFC restaurants in Modena, Reggio Emilia, and Parma.
The consumer protection group Federconsumatori has called for the ‘KFC Tattoo Experience’ to be stopped, citing concerns regarding hygiene, legal issues, and the ethics of exchanging fast food for permanent body advertising. Additionally, the industry association CNA Sanità e Benessere has demanded strict adherence to tattooing industry regulations.
In response, the city of Modena stated that the event was properly authorized and that the two tattoo artists commissioned by KFC had submitted all necessary documentation and notifications to the relevant authorities.
