KFC to switch to Coca-Cola as U.S. beverage supplier in 2027

KFC has announced it will switch its beverage supplier in the United States from PepsiCo to Coca-Cola, ending a partnership that has lasted nearly 40 years. The transition is scheduled to begin in January 2027, with Coca-Cola products expected to be available across all approximately 3,700 U.S. locations by spring 2027.

The decision is part of a broader strategy by Yum! Brands to modernize KFC’s menu and revitalize its U.S. business, which has faced increased competition from rivals like Chick-fil-A and Popeyes. KFC U.S. President Catherine Tan-Gillespie described the move as a “critical step in the Kentucky Fried Comeback,” aimed at meeting changing consumer tastes through beverage innovation.

The shift marks a significant change in the beverage industry landscape. PepsiCo originally acquired KFC in 1986 before spinning off its restaurant division in 1997. While the U.S. locations are switching to Coca-Cola, PepsiCo will maintain its beverage agreements with Taco Bell and KFC’s international markets.
