Fresenius Medical Care confirms cyberattack on internal systems

Fresenius Medical Care, the world’s largest dialysis provider, has confirmed a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to a limited number of internal systems. While the company stated that the breach has not impacted medical devices, patient care, production, or ongoing business operations, the hacker group ShinyHunters has listed the company on its leak site, threatening to release data by September 25. The company has engaged cybersecurity experts and notified law enforcement.

Separately, economic data highlights challenges within the German business landscape. A KfW study reveals that only 11.5% of German medium-sized companies employ foreign skilled workers, with many citing language barriers and bureaucratic hurdles as major obstacles.

Furthermore, German corporations are experiencing higher job losses compared to European neighbors. An EY-Parthenon survey indicates that employees at DAX-listed companies decreased by 1.2% in 2025, driven by high energy costs, regulation, and international competition. In the industrial sector, Germany maintains a 41% market share of EU industrial robot installations, though recent demand in the automotive sector has seen a decline.
