KG Mobility deploys Torres EVX for Gangnam robotaxi expansion

KG Mobility (KGM) is expanding its autonomous robotaxi service in Seoul by deploying the second-generation Torres EVX model. In collaboration with SWM.ai, KGM is supporting the ‘Gangnam Late-Night Autonomous Driving Taxi’ project, a regional service overseen by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The new Torres EVX units feature advanced sensor systems, control technologies, and enhanced safety specifications. Through collaboration with SWM.ai, the technology has successfully streamlined the sensor suite, reducing the number of sensors from approximately 40 to 20.

The service area is expanding from the previous Gangnam and Seocho districts to cover the entire 20.4 square kilometer Gangnam Autonomous Driving Pilot Zone. This expansion includes plans to seek Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport approval to allow autonomous operation in school zones, following recent regulatory changes that removed manual driving requirements in certain protected areas. Since September 2024, the partnership has recorded over 13,214 cumulative rides.
