KGHM advances mining infrastructure and defense market expansion

KGHM is advancing major infrastructure and industrial expansion projects in Poland. The GG-1 shaft is entering its final phase, with the company transitioning from temporary construction structures to permanent equipment. This includes the installation of a surface air conditioning station with an increased capacity of 40 MW to ensure miner safety at great depths. Once operational in approximately three years, the shaft is expected to support roughly 2,500 workers.

Simultaneously, KGHM subsidiary Nitroerg is investing approximately 300 million PLN in Krupski Młyn to build a modern production line for pentryt and hexogen. This investment, supported by the Katowice Special Economic Zone, marks a strategic move toward the defense and military markets. While Nitroerg remains essential for KGHM’s core mining and construction operations, the new facility aims to expand the company's footprint in advanced industrial and military explosive technologies.
