KGI and Mega Financial report record cumulative profits in Taiwan

Major Taiwanese financial holding companies, KGI Financial and Mega Financial, reported significant profit growth for the first seven months of 2026.

KGI Financial reported a cumulative after-tax profit of NT$30.529 billion for the first seven months, surpassing its total profit for the previous year. This growth was driven by stock disposal gains totaling NT$44.85 billion since the start of the year. Despite market corrections in the Taiwan stock market, KGI's banking, securities, and life insurance sectors showed resilience. KGI Bank's cumulative profit rose 22% year-on-year, while KGI Securities saw a 264% increase in cumulative profit.

Mega Financial reported a cumulative after-tax profit of NT$25.659 billion for the first seven months, a 14.45% increase compared to the same period last year, setting a new historical high for this period. The growth was attributed to core business expansion and dividend income from the stock market. Mega Bank's cumulative profit grew by 7.29%, supported by wealth management and lending activities. While Mega Securities experienced a monthly loss due to market volatility, its cumulative profit for the first seven months rose 171.62% year-on-year.
