KGM Musso EV flagged for missing advertised airbags

The Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has issued a warning regarding the KGM Musso EV electric ute, stating that the vehicle lacks two airbags that were previously advertised as standard. While marketing materials indicated the vehicle featured eight airbags—including dual front, front-side, curtain, centre, and driver knee airbags—ANCAP discovered that the centre and driver knee airbags are absent from the approximately 306 units delivered in Australia.

ANCAP chief executive Carla Hoorweg stated that the discrepancy was identified following independent procurement of test vehicles and destructive crash testing. KGM Australia has since updated its website and marketing materials to reflect that locally delivered Musso EVs contain only six airbags.

KGM Australia is currently working with its headquarters in Korea to review specifications for future models. The company has not yet confirmed if the missing airbags will be included in future production updates. ANCAP has advised concerned customers to contact KGM Australia or their local dealer.
