Khadijah Ameen urges TPRC chair to end police post dispute

Rural Development and Local Government Minister Khadijah Ameen has called on Tunapuna Regional Corporation (TPRC) chairman Josiah Austin to end his opposition to a new police post at the Eddie Hart Recreation Ground in Tacarigua.

Ameen stated that the installation of the post is necessary to address local crime, citing incidents of murder, robbery, and sexual assault in the area. She noted that many constituents have welcomed the initiative, which is part of a broader government anti-crime drive involving the construction of 30 joint police posts nationwide.

While Austin previously raised concerns regarding a lack of consultation, Ameen suggested the resistance stems from political shifts rather than procedural issues. The police post is currently nearing completion.
