Khairatabad Bada Ganesh idol immersed in Hyderabad
The 69-foot Khairatabad Bada Ganesh idol, presented as the ‘Panchamukha Sankatahara Maha Ganapathi’, was immersed in Hussain Sagar on Friday, marking a major milestone in Hyderabad’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
The procession traveled from Khairatabad through several landmarks, including Iqbal Minar and Telangana Talli Crossroads, before reaching NTR Marg. Heavy-duty cranes were utilized to lower the massive idol into the water at approximately 2:15 pm following special prayers.
To manage the festivities, authorities deployed approximately 20,000 police personnel, 10,000 CCTV cameras, and 24 drones. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) provided significant logistical support, including 136 Ganesh Action Teams, hundreds of sanitation workers, and various cranes. While the Khairatabad immersion concluded peacefully, thousands of other idols across the region were scheduled for immersion through Saturday.
