Khajuraho Airport to Restart Regular Flights in September

Airport Director Santosh Singh announced that regular commercial flights at Khajuraho Airport are expected to resume in September after a suspension of almost two months caused by airline scheduling, crew management and slot allocation issues, not by any infrastructure problems. The airport, which serves the UNESCO World Heritage temple complex, remained fully operational during the halt and has continued to upgrade passenger facilities, including a children’s play area, library, free Wi‑Fi, EV‑charging stations and a VIP lounge. Recent data show nearly 40,000 passengers passed through the airport in the first half of the year, with annual traffic rising from 15,701 in 2022 to over 50,000 in 2023. The airport topped the Airports Authority of India’s Customer Satisfaction Index, reflecting high standards of cleanliness and service. The return of scheduled flights is projected to boost tourism and support the local economy.

The airport’s infrastructure includes a 2,286‑metre runway, two aerobridges, ten parking bays and modern navigation systems, with a radar surveillance facility planned for future expansion.
