Khalid Khurshid Khan sent to jail on judicial remand
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has sent former Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regional president Khalid Khurshid Khan to jail on judicial remand. The decision follows his arrest in connection with protests held on November 26. While police requested a 30-day physical remand for investigation, the court rejected the request and ordered judicial remand instead.
In a separate ruling, the same ATC in Islamabad discharged several PTI workers who had been detained in connection with cases registered ahead of a party long march. The court released the workers after police requested more time for identification parades, a move opposed by defense lawyers who argued the detainees had been held for over 40 days.
Additionally, a Special ATC in Rawalpindi cancelled the interim bails of PTI leader Naeem Haider Panjutha and former MPA Fakhar Jahan due to their repeated failure to appear at hearings related to political protests in late 2024.
