Khalil Ullah to face trial for alleged terrorism recruitment in Italy

Khalil Ullah, a 38-year-old Bangladeshi national residing in Castel Goffredo, has been sent to trial on charges of international terrorism recruitment and jihadist propaganda. The trial is scheduled to begin on December 3 before the Court of Assizes in Mantova.

According to the Brescia Prosecutor's Office, Ullah allegedly used his position as a religious guide within the local Tabligh community to approach young people. Prosecutors claim he used books, videos, and other materials to indoctrinate individuals into extremist ideologies and promote violence. Investigators also noted the presence of military training videos on his smartphone, including exercises with various weapons.

The investigation stems from a previous case in Genoa involving Faysal Rahman, who was convicted of inciting terrorism. Prosecutors allege that Ullah acted as a mentor to Rahman, influencing him through extremist religious messages. Ullah, a textile worker who has lived in Italy for 18 years, has maintained his innocence and denies all accusations.
