Khammouane signs USD 1.2 million deal for Khounnamphone tourism site

Khammouane authorities have signed a concession agreement worth over USD 1.2 million to develop the Khounnamphone nature tourism site in Ban Pha Laem, Thakhek District. The agreement, signed on 23 September with KK Tourism Development Sole Co., Ltd., outlines a 50-year plan to divide the area into 20 zones. Under the proposal, five zones will be dedicated to tourism development, while 15 zones will be maintained as conservation areas.

The total investment for the project is valued at USD 1,207,350, which includes USD 500,000 in registered capital. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by Khammouane to utilize private investment to enhance its natural attractions. The province reported approximately 73,000 visitors in the first half of 2026, generating more than USD 6.6 million, with a significant portion of tourists arriving from China and other Asian regions.
