Khamzat Chimaev eyes return to UFC middleweight division

Former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev is seeking a return to the Octagon following his split-decision loss to Sean Strickland at UFC 328. While Chimaev has expressed a strong desire for an immediate rematch with Strickland, current rumors suggest the champion may instead defend his title against Nassourdine Imavov in December.

Chimaev has indicated he will remain in the middleweight division to clear out the contenders rather than moving up to light heavyweight. He has identified several potential opponents, including Dricus Du Plessis and Caio Borralho. Borralho has responded to the callout, expressing readiness to fight Chimaev in either November at MSG or December at the T-Mobile Arena.

Reflecting on his recent defeat, Chimaev admitted to making mistakes and hinted at challenges regarding weight cutting and injuries. Before his next UFC appearance, Chimaev is scheduled to compete in a wrestling match against Tyron Woodley at RAF Moscow.
