Khanh Hoa authorities tighten control on illegal wildlife trade
Authorities in Khanh Hoa province are intensifying efforts to control the illegal trade of wildlife. Throughout October 2026, officials received several rare animals voluntarily surrendered by local citizens, including a golden tortoise weighing approximately 1kg and various wild birds.
In addition to voluntary surrenders, law enforcement has intercepted illegal activities involving the possession and sale of wildlife without legal documentation. In one instance, police discovered a man attempting to sell four live coucal birds that were being transported without proper origin certificates.
Khanh Hoa police have issued warnings to the public against the hunting, trapping, killing, transporting, or trading of wildlife and their products. They also advised citizens against keeping wild animals without verifying their species and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
