Khanh Hoa province advances search for martyr remains

Khanh Hoa province has reported positive results after more than 100 days of the ‘500-day campaign to intensify the search, collection, and identification of martyr remains.’

In mid-August, search teams coordinated with local authorities at the Dien Khanh Prison site to conduct excavations. During the initial stages, teams identified five locations showing signs of remains and carefully excavated the soil layers. Along with the remains, historical artifacts such as shackles, rusted iron pieces, and torture tools were uncovered, serving as historical evidence of the sacrifices made by revolutionary soldiers.

Local witnesses, including Ngo Thi Xuan, a former official from the Dien Khanh District Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, have provided information to assist the search. Xuan is seeking the remains of her father, Ngo Quang Trung, the former Head of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Intelligence Board, who died over 50 years ago. The recovered remains are being interred at the Hon Dung Martyrs' Cemetery.
