Khanh Hoa traffic police assist American tourist during medical emergency

A 43-year-old American female tourist experienced a medical emergency while traveling in Vietnam. During her trip, she suffered symptoms consistent with a stroke, including sudden weakness and paralysis in her left arm.

In Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province, traffic police officers on patrol spotted the emergency while a vehicle was rushing the tourist to the hospital. The officers used their specialized motorcycles to lead the way, ensuring the vehicle could reach the medical facility quickly.

Medical teams at the hospital successfully implemented emergency stroke protocols. Despite the challenges of not having the patient's detailed medical history from the United States, doctors administered thrombolytic medication. The treatment proved effective, with the patient regaining nearly full use of her left arm within 24 hours and being discharged after three days of inpatient care.
