Kharkiv missile strike hits building housing Brazilian volunteers
A group of Brazilian volunteers fighting alongside Ukrainian forces survived a missile strike in Kharkiv. Lucas Candido, a former Brazilian paratrooper, filmed the moment a missile, attributed to Russian forces, struck the building where he and four other compatriots, including individuals named Thiago and Gabriel, were staying.
The explosion caused significant damage to the apartment. While some reports from the group suggest minor injuries, such as a leg injury reported by Gabriel, other accounts state the group emerged from the incident unhurt and relocated to a nearby area.
The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has previously advised citizens against volunteering for foreign militaries, noting that consular assistance for such individuals may be limited. Official data indicates that at least 127 Brazilians have been killed or gone missing in combat during the ongoing conflict.
